Yeah! Its a girl!

LisaAnn & Brady have a new arrival! Baby Lainey Ann was born on Wednesday! I'll try to post some super cutie pictures soon.

treats from the grandparents

The girls were overjoyed to get their yummy Easter treats from Grandma Slaugh. Grandpa Slaugh also sent some goodies to eat, including a chocolate bunny. I heard the girls discussing which part of "the professor" they were going to eat first. Julia wasn't timid. In the end, we broke off part of his ears.
Elsie really focuses on her chocolate. The wrapper was difficult, but oh the reward for all that hard labor! Too bad her name isn't Ryanita! We truly did more for Easter than eat. There was a beautiful Easter Egg hunt at Craighill park put on by our friend Haleigh, and the pretty dresses, and Mom prepared a very special Easter Egg hunt to tell the story of Jesus, but Elsie kept opening them out of order to see if they had candy inside. She is a quick learner when it comes to food. Also, she is a very methodical young lady. Tonight she found my shoes on the floor, and headed over to the closet to remind me to put my shoes in the 'shoe basket'. I always put my shoes upstairs, but I couldn't resist indulging her sense of order.

Chocolatey goodness

Julia was playing in the mud and telling me that it was really chocolate. I think there may have been a little chocolate overdose at our house during Easter time. Oh what fun!

Spring Is Springing!

I love watching the flowers pop up and the grass become greener and greener. Today at Mel's little class she got her face painted, so when she came home, everyone had to try it out. We've been practicing our hopping and also our carrot eating, as Elsie is so gracefully demonstrating. We also like to practice with a jelly bean or two.

camp fire

Last week for FHE we had a campfire in our backyard! Melody had been bugging me to have a fire, so we at last relented! We had such fun getting sticky and dirty and smelly, oh this is the good life!

Story Time!

Story time is one of the great Slaugh traditions. At least at our house.  I love it when Daddy and the girls pile in the chair together. I can't believe that all of them fit, but they do! Elsie always climbs right up in the middle. Most of the time mauling Julia on the way.

what am i doing up at 12am?

Well, I'm playing around with the blog, of course. What else do people do at midnight? Silly sleeping people. They're missing out on all the fun. Well, actually, its probably a good idea.

The Slaughs are all doing well. No catastrophes lately. Melody is doing well in school. She is reading a few words, and seems to be getting more curious about them wherever she goes. But, she would by far rather don a dress, turn up the VeggieTales and dance. Dancing is a regular occurrence at our house. Today even Elsie discovered how to turn the music on. Oh no!

Julia is a work in progress right now. Mommy and Daddy are learning yet new dimensions of patience and calmness when responding to Julia during bedtime, or actually, anytime. She is pretty darn cute when she's asleep, though.

Ryan continues to be diligent. Bless him forever for that! He even made chocolatey cookies last night and shared them with me! WOW! Now that's love. And I, to show my undying love and devotion, washed and dried the sheets. I know, I know, pretty heroic.

HOLY SMOKIES!

Craziness!

We have been to the emergency room two times since Friday. Elsie fell and got wedged between the wall and our armoire. She totally smashed her face and cut up her lip. So, I rushed the bleeding, bawling baby over to the ER. She calmed down pretty good and I felt I was overreacting, but hey, its nice to have things sewn up a bit, right? She got a few stitches in her lip and we went home to recover.

Yesterday Julia was climbing on the same armoire (yes, Ryan's friend said, darn French furniture!) She fell and I'm not exactly sure how, but managed to take quite a big gash out of her lower chin. There was bleeding, panicking, and mayhem, but thankfully, (the things you are thankful for) we had just done it, so we got everyone in the car and drove to the hospital. The wound was much more severe and yes, gory, so Mom had a harder time maintaining face as they stitched up the gaping wound. Needless to say, Julia didn't much care for it either. We were all a little wobbly and on edge when we came home, so I had to apologize to poor little Melody for yelling at her. Its always the innocent bystander, huh? I was frazzled!

Today has been a beautiful day! The sun shone, the children laughed and played pretty well, we had mac and cheese for dinner, and no-one AT ALL went to the hospital. Thank you, dear Father in Heaven!

whosahappeemommee

Yeah! All my sweet children are finally ASLEEP. And there was much rejoicing. Now, after a big laundry-folding party, I'm going to sleep myself.

FHE was AWESOME. They even sometimes listened!
